Registration
03 November, 2021

YOCO was able to complete local registration and became a legally registered CSO in the
Somali Regional State.

Opening of Main Office in Jigjiga
20 December/2021

With organizational support from Conciliation Resources (CR) we were able to open and furnish
our main office in Jigjiga. Having a main base has helped us strengthen our service delivery to
clients and further networking and collaboration with other governmental and non- governmental
organizations.

Training on Safeguarding and Safe data collection
02 February, 2022

In preparation for a major data collection activity CR Safeguarding focal point and Protection
Manager from Save the Children, provided training focused on keeping people safe during data
collection. The session included best practices for data collection, rolling informed consent,
safety of both data collectors and those being interviewed, and ways to report any safeguarding
incidents.

CSO Management Training for Executive Staff
29-30 November, 2021

With support from Conciliation Resources, YOCO held a capacity building training for 10 staff members which focused on CSO management, financial management,networking and collaboration. We also further refined our mission and vision statements and reexamined the structure of the organizations.

Emergency Drought Response
24 January, 2022

YOCO collaborated with Siman Charity, another local CSO, for emergency response efforts. We
were able to provide 2 water trucks to two districts in Liban zone that were some of the most
impacted at that time. With the recurring droughts in the region we plan to take part in other
emergency and preventative efforts when we can.

Data collection of Orphans in 3 zones (Dollo, Korahay, and Shabelle)
05– 25 February/2022

We conducted a major data collection exercise where we documented the key needs of orphans in three zones which included Dollo, Korahay, and Shabelle. We collected data on 600 orphans and their caregivers. Preliminary findings of the data collection include the need to expand support to orphans living in rural areas and the need for more strategic and sustainable support and programming to address orphan needs. To support this data collection effort, we utilised KoBoToolbox, a free data collection software.

CYRO Rebranding Workshop: A New Chapter for Empowering Youth and Children
9 September, 2024

The rebranding announcement workshop for CYRO was a major step forward, showcasing the organization's new name and refreshed focus. We introduced our updated vision and mission, which center on empowering children and youth, particularly in conflict areas, while also expanding into advocacy for transitional justice. The new branding, including a fresh logo, symbolizes hope and unity, aligning with our commitment to child protection, psychosocial support, and youth development. It was an exciting moment that marks the beginning of a new chapter for CYRO as we strengthen partnerships and broaden our impact.
